Hi guys.... This for some is also a secret..

in the banshee world looks like everything is a secret.... but I am going to ask...
How do you guys launch for drags??? Gears, riding position, clutch? Suspension setup at the rear AND front is also VERY important...
Lets hear it please....

I also would like to know. Don't have much experience, so would be cool to hear how you guys launch.

Its also a secretive thing for most guys. I will leave some input later, not that I say I'm the best, but suspension setup must not be under estimated here..
everything plays a part here
Suspension is yes i agree very important, your setup and ride height in the front and rear
where you sit (position on seat) when you launch, and where you move to (your ass) after you have launched, this is not the same for every one, as it depends on how your suspension is set up, your weight, and power of the bike speed you are at, like i said it depends on all theses factors, it will be different for everyone
Launching - some find it easy with a launch control system, others perfer the normall way,
Some people launch in first gear others in second gear, once again depends on the bike setup and transmition
back in the day, we had a daytona drag fun day
I had my trusty old 349cc, FMF fatties, Durablue filter - 43hp on Southern ATV dyno vs a Raptor 660cc tuned by Freez, no contest once i got the launching down
i'd sit pretty much on the tank cap, rev it up to bout 6 or 7, drop the clutch to spin up the wheels (it was on grippy grass) then slide down, hook 2nd, slide further back and hook the next gears. (14/41 sprockets, dunlop std 20" rears, i didnt know much bout suspension back then)
i've done a tar drag at Wesbank raceway also with the same technique altho i had to stay on the front a little longer cos it even lifted in 2nd gear (running kenda speed racers, 20" rear, 14/41 sprockets, front shox - softest preload, rear - hardest compression, quickest rebound, 3 threads out preload)
that night on my 2nd run I ran a 15,5 over a 1/4 mile, terminal speed of 126km/h
now i start in 1st or 2nd gear, depending on the gearing i'm running (oval or flat) and the surface at the start. i actually hate 1st gear cos i'm always worried i slip 2nd and slot it into neutral.
tyre pressure is also a factor to consider....

That is pretty much how I do it. I only adjust the front preload up, so that the weels lift of the ground when letting the clutch go, there should be no sag.. Then when you slip the clutch the front wheels is immediately in the air, cause there is no uncompress stage.. (Good for drags only)
The rear the same as you. Like my tyres VERY hard on VERY hard services where there is almost no wheelspin like tar, some will not agree, but it has nothing to do with just traction, pure control.

i dont think i've ever wheelied on a dirt start, i cant even wheelie on purpose

and i dont really want to (all the oil at the back of the motor cant be good for the clutch and gearbox)
sometimes 2nd gear is a bit too much for the motor and i have to feather the clutch a bit once i've dropped it, i also dont rev up to a constant rev anymore, i blip the throttle repeatedly

I don't want to wheelie lol. Just want the front up so that the wheels is a few inches of the ground and all the weight on t back.
Hmm, lots of ideas to try. :-D
Yea with the 18" at the rear 15/41 ill bee off in 2nd gear... purely because i dint have to change gears instantly and im prone to hitting back into neutral...I hate it when that happens LOL...
Suspension..Hey what can i say mine is all stil stock...
Doesnt help me much in trying to set up crap...LOL
