So I got the CR, what a mean bike, way to power full for anything LOL... She was a beast, although they are known to be very very reliable, I had lots of issues with mine, clutch and twist the sprocket shaft in 2!!! I enjoy the bike, although I weight 100+ kgs, she was a handfull, so I sold her... She is still in the family...
I know they raced them on mx tracks, but damn you need to be good!!! Wish I had done a port job on that bike!!!!
I've never had the opportunity to ride one, had a YZ490 for a while, so can just imagine...
Yea my old man had a cr 500 when i was a young warthog...That thing moved....Loved it when my dad took me riding...Such a dark two stroke sound....Then after they removed hes collar bone...yes removed a section of it... my mom forced him to sell it...LOL
She had this wierd notion of "do you want to see your son grow up" LOL
Now im just like my paps....

He has the bike, with the blaster that also has a cr motor in, he only bought the blaster for the motor. i don't think you want to do that, the cr is a vibrator on wheels. My 350 hybrid ran next to a cr and one of the last kx 500s. That blaster was a very good built, re powder coated and had lots of money in it. It cracked everything, then it was remounted on rubber, I think the guy sold it just to get some of his money back.
any chance of installing counter balancers like the blaster?
does it have a fullweb crank?

No chance

I can't remember how the crank looks... But we have plans on porting it...

That was a late 80s bike, think 89, liquid cooled, they say that motor and the last 2000 or 2001 was the same except for the intake, the newer bike deffenatly vibrated much less, so I don't think it was precisely the same...
i'd love one of them, even an IT490.
