Just to let you guys know that my 4mm trail is up and running. It is a whole new machine. Bottom is smoother, with the power band hitting sooner in revs. Pulls like a train to about 9K and then signs off. This thing scares the crap out of me. Had some trouble with the clutch slipping due to the hp it is developing. Changed clutch springs and it was sorted. Played with ratios yesterday. At the mo, I am running 15-40 (didn't have a 38 rear at the time). 1st is still rendered useless as 2nd pulls more than strong enough to pop the nose up into the air. Drifting the quad on tar is a whiz in 3rd.

Anyway, some of the specs:

Porting: Mod Trail (BVH did the porting)
Crank: Hotrods +4 +5 (supplied by BVH)
Domes: 24cc for +4, 1.1mm squish with 0.7mm gasket (I used 0.6mm gasket) Comp at 140 psi when cold
Carbs: STD 26mm with 350 mains, 27.5 pilots, Centre clip, 2 turns (SL)
Timing: +4
Reeds: VF3
Fuel: 105 unleaded with belray oil. (Soon to run avgas)
Exhausts: FMF Gold with PC2 (Want another set of 916's or aliens)
Tires: BKT 20x11x9

I am so stoked with the motor, that I will recommend porting by BVH to everyone.
HOOR HOOR!
setup sounds like it will run strong forever, congrats!! hope you enjoy many (easy) hilly climbs with it!
I'm so glad.... The 4mms are "lekke" setups for about anything...
My own 4mm has a new clutch basket, hub, pressure plate and with a TUSK heavy duty clutch it still slips... I am upgrading to even heavier clutch springs with FZR plates...
I want a 4mm.....

Thanks man. Elke hill climb = nuwe tires. LOL
You will gain even more mid and top with bigger carbs, small carbs WILL only gives you a crisper throttle response on lower rpms, maybe a tiny hp more down low then the 33mms... If you like the way the power band are, do not go bigger then 28mm (pwks I would recommend) as we spoked about in the past... 33mm PWKs if you want more mid to top, you will still have good bottom...

Hopefully the local guys will start to see that 4mms are the way to go on stock cylinders... Reliable, strong, torque and unbeatable.... I can say that porting a stock stroke banshee with the EXACT same durations as this one will have less power through out the complete power band... It is worth running the strokers, it does not mean that the stock stroke motors cannot be set up to run hard... A stock stroke 194 duration with ENOUGH transfer duration and ****** will kill this 4mm in peak hp, but will not have the same amount of power down low and in the lower mid then the 4mm... you will have a "lag" and then the bike will start run hard...
So don't ask me the question will this 4mm make more top end then a stock stroke dune/drag motor... No it won't but thats not what Bansheesa wanted... He builds a cub for that purpose... Hopefully he will wright a good review about how the 2 compare in the future...
BUT building a 4mm with the same durations as the stock stroke 194 or so, the stroker will eat the stock stroke...
I've had a lot of phone calls last months about 4mm strokers, not members, but guys who browse this forum and not registered... I ask them 2 but don't know why they don't register... They got told by local builders that its a waste to run 4mms, I told them it all depends what you want to do with the bike and how much money you have....
Hopefully BVH's 4mm will start to pop up here and there and blow the competition away... Cool

Still a beast at heart. Designed for aggressive trail riding and the porting is spot on for this purpose. I will do a reference between my 4mm and cub soon. Might use the 33's for the trail and get 35's for the cub. Only time will tell.

You know what Gareth, your profile does not fit your "real lifestyle" living, I really imagined you as this blond "little" beer drinker and much smaller... Then I've met you and you were totally different person as I though you are... LOL
Again thanks man!!
You will not have reliability issues!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Big Grin
