A few might know that we were trying to organize a weekend kuier..... I understand that most guys are far and some had to work, so no hard feelings.... Anyways member "figjam" and his girlfriend came to visit and we had a GREAT time, he left this morning about an hour ago..... I know that he will chime in here later this afternoon....
Ok, so he left the West Coast Thursday just after 1PM, So we expected him about 8PM..... We were in contact up to Carnarvon which is the last town he had to pass before my farm, he left there 6:15PM, and as this is a "grond pad" (about 160km) and I know he was pulling a trailer he said he is going to drive slow... There is NO cellphone reception on that road, at 8pm, I went outside to check for light...."no lights"... 9PM again "no lights"..... I tried to phone him several times with only getting voice mail..... So I decide to give him more time...... Just before 10pm I was getting worried that he might had a 2 flat tires and no reception, so we jumped into my bakkie, took and extra spare for the trailor and went ahead on the Carnarvon road, about 32km we saw lights and a trailer with 2 banshees as we passed each other..... We stopped there and introduced each other, in the middle of no where somewhere between Carnarvon and Prieska.... LoL his GPS (hahahahahaha) made him drive 90km turn...... We where glad that they were alright and we drove back to the farmhouse..... At this stage I was dying for food, as we where expecting "fig" at 8pm and he was going to make us a "seekos pot".... At about 11:30 we started the fire and he made us the best "seekos pot" ever and we were finished at 1:15am...... I ate some more of the pot for breakfast and lunch the next day........ Thanks Charl.....
Ok so Friday was "tuning day" I am still trying to sort out the 4mm's jetting before Saturday..... We were chatting about modding and future modding the whole freaken day.... Big Grin
I took his DMC916 Banshee for a ride and was not very much impressed with the overall jetting especially the bottom end..... He had dynojet setup in there and I hate these dynojet kits, the sizes and needle tapers are not the same as oem, I know they "claim" you can more fine tune with them, I say BULL...... So I replaced the needles with stock needles and checked his float heights, pilots and mains, replaced his jet needles also.... I replaced his filter with a Pro Design filter, drilled the airbox... Put it back together , started her and warmed her up, adjusted the airscrews and BANG "WOW" the DMC banshee ripped!!! I was impressed.... Smooth as smooth can be and with real nice top end....
When we inspected the rear silencer I saw the 1 rubber mount were broke off.... I took it off, re-drilled the holes bigger and fitted nice strong rubber mounts on there.... This is a known DMC 916 problem.....
I also looked at his girlfriend's banshee and replaced a few things..... At about 7pm that night I wanted to finish the 4mm jetting, but we were tired and I decided to leave it as I will only be on the WOT (mainjet) at the dunes and I know he is rather rich and no damage will accure.....

Saturday morning I put the Yamaha/B&W Component system full blown on DJ Sammy at 5:45am to get the house awake as we need to leave at 6:30, took a few sunrise photos and we headed for the dunes..... The dunes is about 220km from the farm.... We arrived at 9:20 as we had to make a stop for gas and to pick up a friend......

We had a BLAST out there, you can feel the differencr in power in the dunes between all 3 Banshees..... When we arrived at the highest dune the outside temp was a mere 42degrees celcuis and the sand was like water......... We really had fun....

Ok so Figjam said he will leave Sunday 1pm, so we decided to go to the pan for a few drags to really see the difference between the bikes.... We were having such a blast that he organised to stay until Monday morning(today)... So we slept late the Sunday and we chilled... At 4:30PM we headed to the DRAG STRIP...... We had such a blast that we got back at home just before 8PM that night.....
Fig's driving and dragging skills, even his girl's impressed me.... I knew we can have a fair drag over riding skills, not weight LOL....
So we dragged, swap bikes etc....
Mine is a 4mm agg trial motor, PC pipes and K&N filters (jetting is still way off comp is a low 115psi cranking)
Fig has a stock motor, with reeds, DMC916 and Filter....
His girl's is ALL STOCK with stock pipes.....
I know its unfair, but I knew he would be able to SEE the difference if we put the bikes together....
Later a DS650 (my farm neighbour) heard the screaming and dust and come to inspect....
SO he wanted to drag the ALL stock Banshee, I took the first drag and he took the second one, the DS is piped, filter and he revved, so there might be a rev box on there..... The little stock banshee stood out well..... He agreed not to take on the other 2 banshees......
We dragged over about a 500m strip.... I will go measure the part that we dragged.... Except for the all stock banshee, my 4mm has 22inch Razr2s on (i hate them but got them on the rims for free), my gearing is 14-40, Fig has Maxxis Sur Tracks on on a 14-41 (stock) gearing......
This videos is not the best quality, and is just to gave most a idea how the power differs.... At about 200-250m I would pull about 7-8 lengths on him at the end of the strip about 14 lengths.... Both of us barely reaches 6th gear...... Like said I will again go measure the exact distance we dragged.....
We loved the dragging, to hundreds of pics and video clips............. We went back home and braai a "ontbeende skaapbout" Yummie and went to bed............
Thanks again FIG.... Hope to see the banshee soon for the 4mm upgrade!!! DUNNER SETUP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

B, Dis wat ek hom ook gese het.

That was the same as what I ran here in Durbs. I knew it was the needles that posed the prob.

Jis ek kan my eie gat skop dat ek nie gegaan het nie. Damn...
Hi E, think Charl is happy, his bike runs well for a piped/filter banshee..
The smoothness was the needles, bottom issues the airscrews..
Ja man, we should do it again asap!
Well Well Well, I'm home.....I actually think a speedcop tried to catch up with me just after I passed Klawer with no number plate on the trailer, LOL. But he got kinda stuck between about 3 cars and 2 lorries!! NJA HA!!

Jis B, it was one helluva weekend!! Best in years and I'm not only saying this 2 make the other okes jealous!! It was incredible! I'm so tired, its not even funny.

Seems like B informed you of basically everything we did - I don't really know what to say hmm......I think I'm still full from that amazing skaapboud that you put on the braai last night, jeewizz!

One thing I can really say about this weekend is I really thought I knew my banshee - boy oh boy was I wrong. After B jetted it (sorry it took so long B, I had so many questions to ask hahaha), it was a monster. Not because it's my banshee, but because the BIG DOGG fine tuned it. With only pipes and a filter I could climb any hill in 3rd easily this weekend. And I learnt that I will probably never ever get other tyres than maxxis sur traks - freakin amazing! They hooked on everything that we rode on - and my bike is not setup for bottom end. Just really a shame that not one of those 4 YFZ's we saw in the dunes, tried to race. Haha, I still can't believe that a DS650 with pipe and filter can only win a stock banshee by 2 lengths and even lose one drag. SHAME ON YOU!

Apart from all the banshee riding, we ate and ate and ate. From banana bread, seafood pot, kreef, braaivleis, cold sandwiches, skaapboud to fruit salad, chocolates, yoghurt and other sweets and stuff. Sheesh......Time to diet!

B's bike is really something else. Not only the performance, but it's really unique. Wouldn't mind that ABS, B. And I'm not even going to start talking about that suspension.

E, I'm more than happy with my bike. It will stay this way till one of these retarded 4 pokers surrounding me stops breaking and can beat me. hehe!
Sounds like u guys had sum serious fun! It amps me up reading stuff like this. . .ur guys shee's are gorgeous! Haha! Especialy urs bvh! How do u keep ur tank so white? Im guesing its the make? Myns yellow. Wish i could go ride with u guys. . . Ive never riden with another banshee b4. . . . Lol
