Hey dudes!!!
I've been thinking about this for a while, and this is what I came up with... It's the only way I could have made sense of the process.
So a code 2 reg, is a normal second hand vehicle, nothing confusing there. My question comes in regarding code 3's. I know a code 3 is a vehicle that has been written off, weather in an accident or stolen. In the case of an accident, I suppose the vehicle is damaged to such an extent that it isn't financially viable to fix it, or that the cost of repair exceeds the value of the vehicle.
This is where my question comes in:
Can a vehicle only be written off if it was insured, ie. the insurance writes it off? If you have a vehicle, and you de-register it (not change of ownership), and wish to re-register it at some later stage, will that be classified as a code 3 or would it just have been dormant for the time it was de-reg'd?
These are just things I have been wondering about, I reckon it's useful to know these processes.
Thanks Guys
